About this tool

Many PDFs store Arabic the way it was drawn, with letter shapes laid out left to right. Copying from them gives reversed words such as “ثﻟﺎﺛﻟا” instead of “الثالث”, which breaks search, spell-check and pasting into Word. Warqa reads the position of every glyph on the page and rebuilds the text in reading order with real Arabic characters instead of presentation forms, keeping numbers and English words in their own direction. In our tests on PDFs exported by Word and by the Edge browser, 98–100% of Arabic words came out correct and in order, against 0–29% when copying the text layer directly. Persian and Urdu work too. Everything runs in your browser; the file is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Arabic text come out reversed when I copy it from a PDF?

Some programs, including Word and web browsers, write the joined letter shapes into the PDF in the order they are drawn, left to right, and PDF readers copy them as they are. Warqa reorders them by their position on the page and turns presentation forms back into the original letters.

Does it work on scanned Arabic PDFs?

A scan holds pictures, not text. Run OCR with Arabic selected first to get a text layer.

Can I get a Word document instead?

Yes. “PDF to Word” reads Arabic the same way and also keeps paragraphs, tables and formatting.

Are my files safe?

Yes. There is no server that receives your files; everything is processed in your browser and stays on your device. You can confirm it in the Network tab of your browser’s developer tools.

Is it really free?

Yes. Every tool is free with no daily limits, no sign-up and no watermark on your files.

Does it work on phones?

Yes, it works in any modern mobile or desktop browser, and you can install it as an app from the browser menu.
